Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2.6 (VSCO2)
When you think of orchestral libraries you have multiple choices in the market, yet very few of them are high quality and accessible to everyone.
Today we are going to talk about one of those little gems that you cannot find every day.
Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2 (VSCO2) comes in three different versions.
The first 2 are only available to work with full license Kontakt, while the third is available as NI Kontakt player library.

In our current market, no orchestra exists that has the features that VSCO2 contains for that price.
The professional edition counts with all orchestral sections, and some extra instruments. Also, it contains full ensembles ready to use.
The main idea that gave birth to the project was to replace midi sound in the compositions.
Little by little the project got bigger and bigger, and became more serious and ambitious. More than 4 years have passed since its birth, and we are in front of Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2.6. that is now compatible with Kontakt Player
The user manual is one of the most complete and clear that I have ever had in my hands, as it is really easy to understand the creators´ ideas and to see all the available features. You will find all the functions, instruments, articulations, how to get more realism in your orchestration and some useful tips.
For those who already know the library, according to Sam “The main feature of this update are the 150 new snapshots. Snapshots are per-instrument presets that allow both users and developers to save their favorite setups of instruments, including loading fx and other aspects inside the Kontakt engine”.
Not only have you the possibility to use those 150 pre made snapshots, but also you can easily make your own complex settings so that it is better to recall.
The other essential feature in this update is that VSCO2 is a Kontakt Player license, that is a huge step so every person can have access to it. Before, you could only use the library (all versions) with the full Kontakt that it cost more or less $400 USD.
Now you can have all the features of the VSCO2 professional edition at $229 USD because NI Kontakt player is FREE.
For the ones that never heard about VSCO2, the idea of this particular library is “a way of going against the tide” as his creator, Sam Gossner, said.
While big companies make an effort to use the best mics, in the best place, with the best orchestra, to sound better and better, so as to get the so called “Hollywood Style”, Sam claims exactly the opposite. He wants to go back to the real, the very essence of things, from the general to the particular, he wants to make an orchestra in which every instrument has its own color and is treated with the respect that deserves.
With this philosophy in mind we can appreciate the skilful work in VSCO2. You may be thinking that a library that costs even 4 times less than what the big companies offer will not sound well but I can assure that it is not the case.
The sound of every instrument is perfectly cared. VSCO2 contains all the instruments of an orchestral template (with the exception of the contrabassoon, which may be available for 2018), plus keyboards and some additional non-traditional instruments as the Ophicleide.
It contains sampling of all sections and soloists. Also, it comes with 28 ensembles, carefully made to fast orchestration or to hear all the possible combinations of sounds in a fast way.
The ensembles I particularly like are “Ancient Monastery”, “Dragon Hunt”, “First Snow” and “Medieval Feast”.
All the sections have been well treated and worked thoroughly, I like the woodwind section and the Harpsichords a lot.
In VSCO2 you have variety and quality and an outstanding result.
It´s the perfect library if you are in the video game music business, but it can also be used for instrumental works or in different music genres.
You can find the full instrument list at the manual.

If you are looking for a big orchestral “Hollywood” sound, then this is NOT your library.
However, if you are looking for an orchestral library that sounds like no other, that contains multiple instruments and articulations, in a user friendly interface, then don´t let Versilian Studios Chamber Orchestra 2.6 pass.
In today´s market it doesn´t exist an orchestra that gives such a high quality for quite an affordable price.
It´s an amazing library, affordable, complete and with a beautiful color palette.
